i assisted italian artist sara bernabucci and her curator, ambra cortini, to build up her installation in a village that will be not existing anymore in 1 month... to make place for "phase 2" of the construction of a new compound, these protected living areas(mostly in american or this here in fake-ancient-greek style) growing all around beijing.
a chinese movie-maker just finished a documentary about this village.
mostly old people have to leave their houses, farmers leave their land. their social life will be radically different in a very short time and with the money they'll get for leaving they'll probably not be able to survive in the city.
the +/-25 last inhabitants were a curious public of our action...and the promotor of the project near by send us 4 policemen, to stop us.
but seeing that nothing "dangerous" would happen, they let us continue, complaining to be called for such a banality.
they were very nice, but i prefered to stop taking pictures at this moment...
