caochangdi is the village next to da shanzi district. due to this neighbourhood a lot of artists tried to find their studio here and big galleries occupy former industrial halls or build new spacy exhibition buildings.

the calm of the place compared to the 798 art-district is refreshing and favorable for artist's creation.
ai weiwei, probably the most famous chinese artist of the moment, build his house (called fake) here.
i like the contrast between the old village and the big galleries visited by art-collectors from all over the world.
and after work me and my bike are ready for some kilometers across fields, old industrial sites, artists studios...or simply to have a good espresso in the 798 district or the art-academy.
